No, subscription is not a hard requirement. The Animaze app offers numerous options from which you can choose the one that benefits you the most.
For consumers, non-subscription versions can be purchased via the optional pay-once-use-forever DLCs on the Steam version of Animaze.

The only window of time when a subscription was mandatory for premium features in Animaze was during 2020 and 2022, when the Animaze motion capture/ face tracking engine was powered by the Hyprface library, which was arguably among the best, if not the best, face tracking library worldwide at that time but sadly  did not have a perpetual licensing option.
The cost for such a subscription was low: 20 USD per year for Plus, which included ALL technical features and was good for most creators, and a high-tier 100 USD per year Pro tier, for full commercial rights, which was only needed if Animaze content was generating more than 6000 USD in revenue per year.
As soon as the Hyprface library was phased out from the Animaze tech stack in 2022, perpetual purchase/usage options became available.
