One of the primary goals of Animaze is to facilitate genuine human emotional connection through avatars.

Given that human expressions have a tremendous degree of nuance and that nuance is a core part of our communication, Animaze has to handle a complex emotion interpretation and mapping system. At the time of writing this article, Animaze has 78+ action inputs just on the head and face - probably the highest number of different face expression inputs out of all consumer-grade avatar apps.

 

Because of this complexity, if tracking is misconfigured, things can get out of hand. The one-time button calibration does give you an easy starting point, but, as with most automated solutions, it is not perfect. Not upgrading from that solution later on via tweaking the advanced settings is like learning to ride a bike with the help of training wheels but never taking the training wheels off later on. The one-button calibration will help you get started, but it will also hold you back later on.
